A fight over a framed University of Florida Gator photo led to a broken jaw and the arrest of a man on an aggravated battery charge Tuesday.

Willie I. Irving, 36, of 3205 SW 26th Way, was charged, according to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Irving and another man were remodeling a home when they found a Gator photo that had been abandoned, the report states. When both finished their work day, they arrived together at their place of employment, and Irving saw the photo in the victim’s truck.

Irving claimed the photo was his and the two argued. Irving punched the victim, who told deputies he briefly lost consciousness, according to the report.

Irving left the scene, and the victim was taken to the hospital, where medical personnel found that his jaw was broken jaw in two places and would require surgery.

Deputies located Irving, who said he struck the victim out of fear and was defending himself.
