A Columbia County man was arrested Tuesday on allegations he texted sexually explicit messages to a preteen and later arranged to meet a detective who was posing as the girl.
Daniel Nelson Long, 23, of 230 SW Turner Place in Lake City, was charged with two counts of obscene communications, according to a news release from Columbia County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Seifert.
The investigation started in October when Long began texting an 11-year-old girl, Seifert reported. Detective Katrina Dicks began to communicate with Long through texting and social media outlets, posing as the girl.
Seifert said Long agreed to meet the girl at the Columbia County Library on Tuesday to engage in sexual acts. Detectives saw Long at the library, texting Dicks that he was there and waiting for her.
Long was arrested without incident, Seifert reported.
