Florida will begin the season in the top 10 in at least one major men’s college basketball poll.
The Gators were ranked No. 10 in the USA Today/ESPN men’s college basketball preseason coaches poll released Wednesday.
“It’s a good number to have before the season,” Florida senior guard Kenny Boynton said. “But it’s a long season and the numbers will switch, so we definitely can’t let that go to our heads.”
Boynton is one of three starters returning from a Florida team that finished 26-11 and reached the Elite Eight last season.
Indiana was selected No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today rankings, followed by Louisville (2) and Kentucky (3). Florida will face three ranked teams in its non-conference schedule — No. 21 Wisconsin at the O’Connell Center on Nov. 14, at No. 24 Florida State on Dec. 5 and at No. 11 Arizona on Dec. 15.
