FORT LAUDERDALE (AP) — An 18-year-old man seen on surveillance video punching a Broward County bus driver has turned himself in — after his mother confronted him.

A sheriff's office arrest report says the bus driver approached 18-year-old Elizajah McKenzie on Sept. 10 because he kept pulling the stop line and wouldn't take his feet off the seat. Words were exchanged between the two and the driver returned to his seat.

The video shows McKenzie walking to the front of the bus, punching the driver in the face and then running off the bus.

Authorities say someone recognized McKenzie in the video that aired on local media and called his mother. He later told detectives he was upset with the driver.

McKenzie was arrested Friday and charged with battery of a public transit employee.
