Today's game

District 5-5A, Citizens Field, 7:30

BELLEVIEW (1-3, 0-1) at EASTSIDE (2-3, 1-0): The host Rams are coming off their worst loss of the season, a 40-0 thumping by 6A No. 1 Gainesville. Yet, Eastside is very much in the District 5-5A race and a win tonight will put the Rams atop the league, pending Friday's Crystal River-North Marion game. Sir Jackson played most of last week's game at QB, although still hurting with an injured right shoulder. Junior RB Danzy Willis (262 yards) has shown flashes of elusiveness and WRs Richard Williams (15 catches, 237 yards, 2 TDs) and Keandre McCray (11-156, 2 TDs) and TE Seth Brown (17-151, 2 TDs) have all made some impressive catches. Sophomore QB Landon Rogers (556 yards, 7 TDs, 4 Ints.) could also see action tonight for the Rams. The visiting Rattlers, who were off last week, have lost three straight since beating The Villages in their season opener. QB Erik Pitts has thrown for 452 yards and three TDs, but has completed just 34 percent (24 of 70) of his throws. Belleview, which has struggled running the football, is led on the ground by Craig Riche (192 yards, 3 TDs). Eastside will be idle next week before facing two tough district road tests at Crystal River (Oct. 19) and at North Marion (Oct. 26).
