The University of Florida Police Department on Tuesday urged anyone who might have seen or has information about an attempted rape near Weimer Hall on Monday night to contact the agency.

UPD Maj. Brad Barber said Tuesday morning that investigators are tracking down leads but that no arrest has been made.

The incident was reported about 9:30 p.m. The woman told police she was walking near the building when a man armed with a knife tried to sexually assault her, Barber said Monday night.

Barber said the woman put up a fight, and the man ran away. The woman had some scratches but was not seriously hurt. The culprit was described as white, tall and thin. He wore a dark shirt and khaki shorts, Barber said.

Barber said anyone with information should call 392-1111.
