Events will be held on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in memory of Capt. Turnace H. Brown, a soldier from Gainesville who was killed in the Korean War more than 60 years ago.

His remains will be returned to Gainesville from Jacksonville International Airport today.

On Wednesday, a Sheriff’s Office motorcade will meet Brown’s hearse at the Bradford/Alachua County line on U.S. 301 and escort the vehicle along Waldo Road into Gainesville. That is expected to happen sometime after 11:45 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office said.

Once the motorcade is in Gainesville, the route to Milam Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., is not yet determined. The Sheriff’s Office plans to post updates on the motorcade’s progress on its Facebook page Wednesday morning and early afternoon.

Other events in honor of Capt. Brown include:

Thursday: A visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. at Milam Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St.

Friday: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Milam Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St.

A motorcade also will deliver Brown from the funeral home Friday to the burial site, Forest Meadows East Cemetery, 3700 Hawthorne Road. The time and route of that motorcade is still being arranged.
