Alachua County will hold a community meeting on the relocation of its fairgrounds on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
People may start arriving around 5:30 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the Alachua County Fairgrounds at 3100 NE 39th Ave. in Gainesville.
County residents, particularly eastside stakeholders, are invited to attend the meeting, where they can learn more about the relocation process for moving the fairgrounds to a new spot and may offer their opinions.
Stakeholders include eastside Gainesville residents, as well as those who work at hotels or with community organizations who use the fairgrounds.
The County Commission supports this shift because it would allow the current site near the airport to be redeveloped as an eastside business park.
The county is drafting a Request for Proposal, or RFP, for potential partners and properties for an alternative fairgrounds location in the county’s eastern sector. The RFP will probably be released in early November.
