UF women's tennis earns doubles title

ANN ARBOR, Mich — UF freshman Danielle Collins and junior Olivia Janowicz were crowned doubles champions at the Michigan Wolverine Invitational.

Alexandra Cercone and Sofie Oyen earned an 8-4 win against Iowa’s Christina Harazin and Katie Zordani, while Caroline Hitimana and Brianna Morgan fell to Iowa’s Annette Dohanics and Morven McCulloch, 8-4.

On the singles court the Gators won five of six matches, highlighted by Janowicz’s 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 upset of No. 58 Brooke Bolender and completing her three-day event winning all three singles matches, as well as all three doubles contests. Collins also captured all three singles matches, capped with a 6-0, 6-2 decision over No. 100 Mimi Nguyen for her first win against a nationally ranked opponent.
