I would like to nominate my sister Pat Potter for the entrepreneurship award. Pat has lived in Gainesville with her husband Mark and family for 30 years. Pat was the garment fitter for Gresham's for 10 years before she opened her business "Pat's Perfect Fit."
About Patricia Potter
Occupation: Owner, Pat's Perfect Fit
Years in Gainesville: 30
Spouse: Mark Potter
Children: 3, Luke, Jenna & Joey
The years in business have not been easy. Changes in certifications, medicare, state and local regulations along with Insurance have made it hard to keep the doors open at times.
Through it all she has kept her head above water, she is well known by many local doctors who recognize and appreciate her services. But who really benefits, are the people she cares for. Pat deals in a field that most people can't handle. Mastectomy patients, burn patients and the elderly among others. Each one she treats on a one-to-one personal basis. She listens to their stories and they confide in her. She helps them to see that their misfortunes are not the end of the world.
Many times I have seen her help people who are a little short on funds or down on their luck. My sister Pat is all heart. Maybe that doesn't make her the greatest entrepreneur? But her value to the community make her important and vital, and in that a Great Spirit of Gainesville Persona.
