Saturday's big SEC win at Texas A&M also took a toll on the Gators.
While UF running back Mike Gillislee is expected to play at Tennessee on Saturday, linebacker Jelani Jenkins and cornerback Cody Riggs will each miss about four weeks, coach Will Muschamp announced Monday.
“He'll be fine for this weekend,'' Muschamp said of Gillislee's groin injury. “We just had a staff meeting, and they said he was going to practice.”
Riggs has a foot fracture, while Jenkins had surgery Monday morning to repair a fracture on his thumb. True freshman Antonio Morrison will take Jenkins' place in the lineup.
Meanwhile offensive tackle Chaz Green, who suffered from cramps Saturday, is fine, according to Muschamp, who added that safety Josh Evans (shoulder) will also practice Monday.
Offensive tackle Matt Patchan is still out. Freshman tight end Kent Taylor had an injury last week and wasn't able to travel to Texas A&M, Muschamp said.
It's bad news for buck linebacker Ronald Powell, who is now expected to redshirt this season, Muschamp said. Powell has swelling in his knee, which Muschamp said is a speed bump in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Cornerback Pop Saunders (suspension) will be back this week.
