Brittany Schutte's softball career with Florida has ended.

The junior catcher's season was cut short in March after suffering a jaw injury, and she recently decided to take a job as softball coach at Oak Hall School in Gainesville.

Schutte hit .396 with 23 RBIs and three homers, but only played in 21 games last season. She informed Florida coach Tim Walton this month that she is shifting interests in her academic career with hopes of becoming an educator.

“It is a privilege and honor to be named the Oak Hall head softball coach and I am grateful to (athletic director) Jeff Malloy for this opportunity," Schutte said in a press release. "I look forward to working with the many great student-athletes and am excited about the future of the program. I am thrilled to be an Eagle and can't wait to get started."
