Ashley McPherson's passion for children to experience theater has inspired her to single-handedly create the best children's theater that the community has ever seen. Her belief is that every child who has a desire to experience theater should be given that opportunity, so every child who auditions for a Musical Me produced musical is given a part. By fostering childrens' passion for the arts and her all-embracing philosophy, she is creating an enriching this community in a way that truly exemplifies the Spirit of Gainesville.

About Ashley McPherson

Occupation: Owner/Director of Musical Me Theater

Years in Gainesville: 10

Spouse: Scott McPherson

Children: Amy and Scott Junior

Her years of experience as a musical director with the Gainesville Community Playhouse (of which she still serves on the board) and her company Drama Kids have culminated in Muscial Me Theater, the theater company she has owned and operated since 2009.

Each year, Musical Me grows both in terms of number of children involved and financially, but Ashley funnels all of the money from the shows back into the company to give children better sets and costumes. She uses every bit of time that she isn't raising her own children to work on Musical Me. This has been an extremely difficult balance for her to strike, but she believes in what she is giving children and the community as a whole.

Ashley is continually looking for ways to better serve the community with Musical Me, getting children more involved with community functions and events, and partnerships with performance spaces. She is also continually working to help chart the trajectory of the Gainesville Community Playhouse as a member of the board as well.
