Adam's Rib Co. plans to open its second location by Monday at the latest and perhaps sooner.
On Thursday afternoon, owner Adam Brewer said he just needs the city to sign off on inspections for the restaurant at 1515 SW 13th St., the former site of Joe's Deli.
He said he was planning to open in mid-July until a lightning strike damaged the electrical system.
Taking bids on depot sites
The city of Gainesville will be taking bids for its restaurant and cafe spaces in the newly restored historic depot building in Depot Park near downtown.
The project includes the 1910 Passenger Depot and the Freight Depot and Platform, which has a covered deck. The city will take proposals for either one of the spaces or both.
City bid packages are available at demandstar.com.
Blue Sky Cafe location
After closing Blue Sky Cafe at the end of May, Stan Given said he has several parties interested in leasing the location at 3773 Archer Road, including "food and non-food users," but no firm commitments yet.
Given previously owned PJ's Coffee at that location and later leased it to Ben and Jerry's. He opened Blue Sky last year with sandwiches and salads made with Boar's Head meats and cheeses but said weekly sales increases did not meet his goals.
Given also owns the local Moe's restaurants, The Flying Biscuit, Heavenly Ham and one Planet Smoothie.
101 Downtown came out with a new menu concept earlier this month that includes small, medium, large and extra large plates.
Some of the new plates include yellowfin tuna on peppadew peppers with wonton chips and marinated ahi tuna and avocado on toast points from the small menu, a skewer with grilled shrimp, filet mignon, chorizo sausage and salsa verde on the medium menu, and beef tenderloin with crab and shrimp oscar topping on the extra large menu.
