As described at the CMC website: "The Civic Media Center & Library, Inc., founded in October of 1993, is an alternative library, reading room, and infoshop. Its mission is to provide community access to information and points of view not carried, or incompletely carried, in the for-profit and corporate media. The CMC serves as a resource for activists working to create more just and sustainable communities. The Center is also a community space that hosts political, educational, and cultural events."
