ORLANDO — The No. 21 University of Florida soccer team posted a 2-0 win Saturday over No. 12 Central Florida in a weather-delayed exhibition match played at the UCF Soccer/Track complex.
The Gators' first score started when All-American Erika Tymrak's back-heel flick found Holly King in the middle of the field. Havana Solaun ran onto the ball King sent right down the center of the field and scored from 12-yards in the 36th minute.
Florida scored again in the second period. Tessa Andujar, deep in the Knight half, sent a cross into the box. Tymrak finished to the near post in the 56th minute to put UF up 2-0.
The teams opened play with a 45-minute period and finished with a pair of 30-minute periods.
Florida opens the 2012 season next Friday at 7 p.m. night when Miami comes Gainesville.
