Celebration for UF's Olympic medalist Beisel

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. - Olympic medalist Elizabeth Beisel (BEYE'-zuhl) is being celebrated by her hometown with a rally at her alma mater.

The 19-year-old Beisel is scheduled to be back in the Ocean State Wednesday. After she arrives, she is scheduled to attend a rally at 7 p.m. at the North Kingstown High School football stadium.

The rally is being sponsored by WJAR-TV.

Beisel won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley and a bronze in the 200-meter backstroke in the London Olympics. She was the only Rhode Islander to compete in this year's games.

She lives in the Saunderstown section of North Kingstown and attends the University of Florida.
