Who: Chad White
Sport: Track and field
Events: 400, 800
Weight: 143 pounds
College chosen: Shorter University (Rome, Ga.)
Other schools considered: Briar Cliff University (Sioux City, Iowa), Paine College (Augusta, Ga.)
Stats: First team all-area as member of the 4x400 relay which posted a national elite time of 3:19.14 to finish sixth as Class 3A state meet; ranked fourth in area in the 400 at 49.89, placing second at the District 1-4A meet
Quotable: “There were a lot pros to Shorter. It was financially more reasonable than Briar Cliff, and it was a lot more closer. One of the biggest factors that made me decide for Shorter University was its record for being NAIA Division II national champs in track and field (men won NAIA title in 2011 and 2012). That gives me a chance to work with a real good track and field program. I feel like I did pretty good this year, but I feel like I can even surprise myself in college. Running at state (in the 4x400 relay) really topped my experience at Buchholz.” - Chad White
