Despite a tight schedule Friday, Orlando Dr. Phillips safety Marcell Harris was able to attend Florida's annual Friday Nights Lights.

Harris had to leave for Lake Buena Vista as soon as the showcase ended for Gridiron Kings, but seeing UF coach Will Muschamp and his staff again was worth the late-night drive.

“It was cool,” he said of his trip to Gainesville. “I came out there and chilled for a little bit and talked to a couple coaches.”

Like the majority of top recruits that attended, Harris did not work out and spent most of his time with the UF commitments. The ESPN150 member said the future Gators were after him hard as usual.

“Always,” Harris said when asked if they pursue him regularly. "All the guys have their little games they play. They all try to put stuff in my ear.”

Harris hears the most from Daytona Beach Mainland linebacker and close friend Quinton Powell. The two traveled to FNL together and then hung out all weekend at Gridiron Kings, giving Harris three consecutive days of recruiting pitches from Powell.

“Whenever I get a chance to talk to him, I talk about the Gators,” Powell said.

UF has always been a favorite for Harris because it's an SEC school and he likes the idea of Muschamp being his position coach.

Harris plans to announce a Top 5 soon, and Florida is sure to make the cut along with Texas, which will welcome him for an official visit on Sept. 1. The 6-foot-1, 209-pounder said he has no timetable for his decision.

“Whenever I want to make it, I'll make it,” Harris said.
