Ole Miss
Coach: Hugh Freeze, first season (30-7 overall).
Last year's record: 2-10 overall, 0-8 in the SEC (6th in the West).
Starters returning: 15 (seven offense, six defense, two specialists).
Best case scenario: Hugh Freeze generates a considerable buzz with his offense and the Rebels get off to a fast start, winning three of their first four games heading into their matchup with Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 29. This young team improves over the course of the season and breaks its losing streak against league teams.
Worst case scenario: The lack of overall talent spells doom for a second consecutive season. After going 0-8 in the SEC a year ago, the Rebels will struggle to win any league games in 2012. They likely will be underdogs in all eight league games (Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Vanderbilt, LSU and Mississippi State).
Quotable: “I'm a realist. Our program is in a spot that none of us are happy with. I get that. I'm very, very anxious about starting the process and journey to get us out of being where we are to where it's been in years past.” — Hugh Freeze
