No. 1 Alabama at LSU

When: Nov. 3

Where: Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, La.)

Why it’s No. 3: Alabama and LSU played the two most important games of the 2011 season and there is no reason to think this one won’t be as big a deal. Both teams simply keep reloading and will both be in the preseason top 5.

Series history: The two teams started playing in 1895 and Alabama certainly has had its stretches of dominance (Tide won 11 straight in early 1970s and 80s). But LSU has won seven of the last 11 and five straight from 2003-07. Of course, Alabama won the game that mattered most last year.

Rivalry on a scale of 1-to-100: 96. While the Nick Saban story (he won a national title at LSU, too) may be old, there is no love lost between these two schools and the rivalry simply intensified last season with the two epic games.
