When: Oct. 6

Where: Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, S.C.

Why it’s No. 3: South Carolina and Georgia are considered sort of the co-favorites in the Eastern Division, so the winner of this game will get a huge leg up in its quest to reach Atlanta and the SEC Championship Game. It’s usually been the SEC opener for both schools, but it’s been pushed back to the third league game for the Gamecocks and fourth for the Bulldogs. The game will seem even bigger now that it’s deeper into the season.

Series history: The Bulldogs have dominated the series and hold a 46-16-2 advantage. But Steve Spurrier’s guys have won the last two meetings, further evidence that the head ball coach has changed the culture at South Carolina.

Rivalry on a scale of 1-100: 80. UGA-USC was considered somewhat of a rivalry even before the Gamecocks joined the SEC in 1992. Since then, this has turned into a significant (and colorful) rivalry and a very important match-up in the Eastern Division race.
