LSU junior defensive back

Height: 5-foot-9

Weight: 175 pounds

Why he's No. 4: Explosive playmaker who was a Heisman Trophy finalist last season. Plays beyond his size with a combination of heart and talent. Has a tremendous nose for the football and won the Bednarik Award last season, given to the nation's top defensive player.

College career: In 26 career games, Mathieu has created 14 turnovers (8 fumble recoveries, 4 interceptions and two forced fumbles recovered by a teammate). Mathieu has been just as dynamic on special teams. He returned two punts for TDs last season while averaging 15.6 yards per punt return.

Fun fact: Mathieu may have the best nickname in college football, “Honey Badger.” He earned the nickname from LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis due to his relentless style of play.
