It's a longshot, but former Florida point guard Erving Walker will try to latch on to an NBA team this summer.
The 5-foot-8 Walker is playing for the Phoenix Suns' summer league team in Las Vegas. Walker will have five games from July 15-21 to try to earn an invite to the Suns' training camp the following October.
It won't be easy. The summer roster for Phoenix includes first-round pick and former North Carolina point guard Kendall Marshall, and former Kansas State combo guard Jacob Pullen.
Walker finished his UF career fourth on UF's all-time scoring list (1,777 points), second in 3-pointers made (285) and first in assists (547).
Walker isn't the only former Gator point guard trying to latch on to an NBA team this summer. Former Gator point guard Taurean Green is on the Brooklyn Nets' summer league roster. Green, who played this past season overseas in Spain, was the starting point guard on UF's back-to-back national title teams in 2006-07.
