DAVIE — A South Florida woman has died after authorities say a fire broke out in her cluttered home.

Neighbors called 911 Saturday morning after seeing smoke pouring from the woman's home.

Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle said the woman was found dead near her door. Officials said she is in her mid-60s but have not released her name.

Engle estimated the stacks of newspapers and junk lying inside the home were about 3 feet tall.

The Sun Sentinel (http://lb.vg/2xp98) reports that the clutter had to be cleared to make way for police dogs.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
