When: Sept. 8

Where: Scott Field (Starkville, Miss)

Why it's No. 21: This game is always an early season favorite in the SEC. It's usually a crucial September test for Auburn, and an opportunity for MSU to establish itself as a factor in the Western Division race. The Bulldogs lost in the final seconds last season at Auburn and will be fired up to try and get a rare win against the Tigers.

Series history: Dating back to 1905, this is one of the oldest rivalries in the SEC, but it has been dominated by the Tigers, who hold a 60-23 advantage. The Bulldogs' last win was a 19-14 victory at Auburn in 2007. MSU has beaten Auburn only twice in the past 11 years.

Rivalry on a scale of 1-100: 60. When one team dominates like Auburn has, it takes a lot of the edge off a rivalry. But this is still a pretty good one that seems to be heating up with what Dan Mullen has done in turning MSU around.
