Gatorsports.com counts down the top 25 games in the SEC for the 2012 season.

NO. 23 — MISSISSIPPI STATE AT ALABAMA

When: Oct. 27

Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)

Why it's No. 23: Any game involving Alabama is big, considering the Tide have won BCS titles in 2009 and 2011. Mississippi State remains a program on the rise under fourth-year coach Dan Mullen. The game will be a contrast in styles, with Alabama coach Nick Saban's pro-style offense going against Mullen's spread-option attack.

Series history: Alabama leads the all-time series 74–18–3.

Rivalry on a scale of 1-100: 90. The two schools are just an hour-and-a-half apart by car. Mississippi State students often travel to Tuscaloosa on weekends because the nightlife in Starkville is … well … stark. Fans on both sides will be pretty amped up for the contest.
