Gatorsports.com counts down the top 25 games in the SEC for the 2012 season.

NO. 24 — TEXAS AT OLE MISS

When: Sept. 15

Where: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium (Oxford, Miss.)

Why it's No. 24: Certainly, this is one of the most interesting non-conference matchups in the SEC this season. It's very rare for Texas to trek into SEC country for a football game. This is a big early season game for the Longhorns because they're trying to re-establish themselves as an elite team in the Big 12. It's big for the Rebels because new head coach Hugh Freeze is trying to turn around a program coming off a disastrous 2-10 season.

Series history: The Longhorns and Rebels played for the first time way back in 1912. It was not the start of a rivalry. The two teams have met only five other times in the past 100 years. UT leads the series 5-1.

Rivalry on a scale of 1-100: 5. With so little history, this basically has no real elements of a rivalry. The two teams haven't played since 1966.

This is a correction of an earlier post.
