Record: 46-11 (21-7 SEC)
Key Players: Michelle Moultrie, sr., of (.376, 10 HRs, 29 RBIs); Brittany Schutte, jr., c (.477, 3 HRs, 23 RBIs); Hannah Rogers, so., p (27-6, 1.25 ERA).
Outlook: Florida is the top seed for a reason. The Gators have played the most challenging schedule in one of the toughest softball conferences (SEC) in America. It would be a surprise if UF didn't advance, but the Gators need to continue to pitch and play strong defense and hit better with runners in scoring position.
Record: 45-11 (17-5 Big East)
Key Players: Sara Nevins, so., p (26-5, 1.06 ERA); Kourtney Salvarola, so., ss (.342, 3 HRs, 30 RBIs); Stephanie Medina. so., 1b (.305, 7 HRs, 30 RBIs)
Outlook: The 6-foot Nevins is a dominant pitcher capable of carrying her team. Like Florida, USF has relied on pitching and defense to win games. The Bulls are batting just .268 at a team, but have held opponents to a .189 average.
Record: 39-17 (15-10 Conference USA)
Key Players: Natalie Land, sr., ss .(.341, 8 HRs, 41 SBs); Mackenzie Audas, fr., p (21-10, 1.21 ERA).
Outlook: The Knights barely made the NCAA Tournament field with 39 wins. But 10 wins against NCAA Tournament teams, including a 2-0 upset of Florida, helped UCF land an at-large bid. If Land hits and Audas pitches well, the Knights could be dangerous over the weekend.
Record: 37-22 (14-4 Atlantic Sun Conference)
Key Players: Chelsea Zgrabik, so., c/if, (.340, 13 HRs, 53 RBIs); Shelby Morgan, fr., p. (22-6, 1.38 ERA).
Outlook: The Eagles come into regionals on a roll, having won six straight. FGCU earned an automatic NCAA bid by winning the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, but the talent level the Eagles will face will rise this weekend. FGCU failed to beat a team in the regional field during the regular season, going a combined 0-3 against Florida, UCF and USF.
