A 20-year-old Gainesville man was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with tackling and elbowing in the stomach a woman who is pregnant with his child.
Diamante Austin was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant female, a second-degree felony, after he alleged struck the woman following an argument over a Facebook posting, according to a Gainesville Police Department arrest report.
The victim told Officer Mary Davis that Austin had tackled her into a coffee table and elbowed her twice in the stomach saying, “I don’t want you to be pregnant,” the report said.
Austin told Davis that the two had gotten into an altercation and that he wrapped his arms around her to restrain her, causing them to fall to the floor. He said he was defending himself against her, the report states.
