KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Michelle Moultrie's solo home run to straight-away center in the third inning would be the only run the UF softball team would need to top Tennessee 1-0.
The Lady Vols (15-5, 1-2 SEC) out-hit the Gators (23-2, 4-1 SEC), 6-4, but the only hit that mattered was Moultrie's sixth round-tripper of the year, which gave Florida a 1-0 lead it wouldn't relinquish.
Lauren Haeger (7-1) got the win for the Gators in relief of starter Alyssa Bache. Haeger held Tennessee to two hits in 3.2 innings of work.
Men's Golf: At Las Vegas, Nev., UF finished up play at the SH Collegiate Masters in a tie for ninth place.
For the tournament, the Gators were led by former Oak Hall star J.D. Tomlinson who earned his second consecutive top-10 slot with an eighth-place finish after a three-round score of four-over 218.
Tomlinson was one of three players who led the Gators on the day with a 76. After a double on 11 and a bogey on 13, the freshman finished out his round with a birdie on the 18th to close out his day.
Men's Tennis: At Lexington, Ky., ninth-ranked UF dropped a 4-3 decision on the road to No. 7 Kentucky.
Nassim Slilam and Billy Federhofer both had singles wins for the Gators (9-5, 2-2 SEC).
Tripper Carleton and Michael Alford teamed up for a No. 3 doubles victory. The Wildcats improved to (15-3, 4-0 SEC).
Women's Tennis: The match between No. 2 Florida and Kentucky scheduled for Sunday has been postponed due to rain and will resume today beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Florida (9-1, 3-0 SEC) is in pursuit of its 101st consecutive home win and hopes to improve its record to 175-1 all-time at home against SEC opponents.
