When the SEC decided to expand to 12 teams, the idea was to create an SEC Championship football game. But it also changed the way the SEC Basketball Tournament would be played.

The result was a four-day event that would be played in six different cities over the next 20 years.

This will be the last of the 12-team tournaments, as the SEC expands to 14 teams next year.

Twice during that run, there have only been 11 teams involved because of sanctions against Auburn in 1992 and Georgia in 2003.

But for 20 years, the SEC Tournament has been a mixture of Tigers and Wildcats and Gators and Bulldogs all hoping for a chance to raise the trophy high in the sky on Sunday afternoon.

We look back on the two decades of hoops heaven with this special content.
