Lafayette softball's pitcher/first baseman Stacy McClelland signed to play with Indian River State College in Fort Pierce. The senior was an all-area first-team pick last season.
Who: Stacy McClelland
Position: Pitcher/First base
College chosen: Indian River State College (Fort Pierce)
Other schools considered: Polk State College (Winter Haven)
Stats: She was an all-area first-team pick last spring, hit .456 with eight doubles, two home runs and knocked in 20 runs. She was also 3-5 with a 3.71 ERA in the circle for the Hornets.
Quotable: "I was very excited and I got upset when I was signing because I am very close with my family, and the thought of leaving them made me upset. I was glad to get it done with so I can just focus on graduating and going to college. It is small and for academic reasons, I wanted to start off at a small school. I loved it there when I went for a visit. I want to go to Indian River State to get better for two years and then transfer to a Division-I school."— Stacy McClelland.
