The parking lot outside the Regal Royal Park Stadium 16 filled up with fire trucks Friday morning, making it look like an action movie was being filmed there. The situation turned out to be more smoke that fire, according to Gainesville Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched to the multiplex theater at 3702 W. University Ave. shortly before 7 a.m. and found a smoky scene. Officials said it appeared the smoke was coming from a malfunctioning air handler. The theater was ventilated by fire crews before being turned back over to theater management around 7:30 a.m.
