Donovan in Coaches’ Charity Challenge

Florida coach Billy Donovan has chosen to represent the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation in the 2nd Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.

Last season, Florida fans cast the most votes online and helped Donovan and the Ferrero Foundation win the challenge, which came with a $100,000 prize for the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation, benefiting the Shands Hospital for Children at UF.

This season, the Challenge has increased its field from 14 to 48 participants, and Coach Donovan and the Ferrero Foundation once again need the support of Gator Nation to bring home the prize for this great cause.

Fan participation will determine the ultimate winner over an eight-week period that began Jan. 18 by registering and voting on Fans can vote for up to four coaches per day.

For the first six weeks, four brackets of 12 coaches will be paired against each other, with the winners from each group moving onto the next round in week seven and the final round in week eight. The winning coach will be announced March 9.

The Sebastian Ferrero Foundation is a 501.C.3 created by Horst and Luisa Ferrero in November 2007 to honor and endure the memory of their happy and healthy three-year-old son, Sebastian, who died in October 2007 as a result of a series of preventable medical errors in Gainesville, Florida. About the 2012 Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge:

The Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge and its collaboration with ESPN is the lead-in sponsor of the NCAAź Men's Basketball Primetime TV Game of The Week. The 2nd annual marketing campaign theme for NCAA Men's Basketball "Inspiration is Contagious" will focus on mobilizing thousands of college basketball fans from across the country to vote daily online for their favorite coach. The program has expanded this year to include 48 coaches broken down into four regional brackets, versus 14 coaches last year. On February 27, 2012 the competition will be narrowed down to the top four regional coaches who will advance to the Final Four. Votes will restart at 0 for the remaining coaches and challenge will end on March 8, 2012. The winning coach will be announced on March 9, 2012 and will receive a $100,000 donation from Infiniti to the coaches' charity. The remaining coaches will receive a $5,000 donation from Infiniti for their selected charities. This program was built with Infiniti's partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation (NABC Foundation, Inc.)
