A Lake City man was killed and two other people were seriously injured during a Saturday morning head-on collision on State Road 349 in Dixie County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Dead is Michael Joyner, 56, according to an FHP press release. Taken to Shands at the University of Florida with injuries described as serious were Donna Tucker, 49, of Branford, and Brandon Blanchard, 21, of Bell.

The accident occurred about 7 a.m. on SR 349 near Northeast 753rd Avenue, the release states.

Blanchard was driving a 2006 Chevrolet C1500 pickup north on SR 349 while Joyner was driving a 1998 Dodge D-150 pickup towing a boat south. The report states that Blanchard crossed the center line into the path of Joyner, causing a head-on collision within the southbound lane.

Tucker was ejected from the pickup being driven by Joyner. Joyner was trapped inside the truck as it became fully engulfed in flames, the report states.

Joyner was declared dead at the scene by Dixie County Fire Rescue while Tucker and Blanchard were taken to Shands for treatment.
