The Gainesville Police Department has arrested the second of two men suspected of staging an armed robbery earlier this month.

Adrian Lamar McCray, 21, of 2980 SE 19th Ave., was arrested Thursday for armed robbery with a firearm. Court records show another man, Keenan Javar Jackson, 20, of 3140 SE 21st Ave., was arrested Wednesday on the same charge.

In an arrest report, Officer Charles Dorminey said Jackson and McCray worked together to rob a man Jan. 9 around 7:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Southeast 26th Terrace.

The victim told police that Jackson agreed to give him a ride home in exchange for gas money and that McCray and another man were also in the car. Then, according to the victim, McCray got out of the car, walked over to the victim while carrying a handgun and asked the victim if he had change for a $50 bill.

"When the victim told McCray ‘no' about change for a $50, McCray raised the handgun up and stretched out his arm towards the victim, pointing the handgun at the victim," Dorminey wrote in his report.

The victim told Dorminey that he was afraid for his life, so he handed over $150 from his pants pocket and, after McCray took it, the men drove off.

McCray and Jackson were being held at the Alachua County jail on Friday.
