The U.S. Marshals Service in Gainesville arrested a man early Friday morning wanted for a violent home invasion robbery in Lake County in which an elderly man was shot.

Marshals' spokesman Bryon Carroll said Chazelle Reed, 29, of Fruitland Park, was arrested on a warrant charging him with attempted murder and home invasion robbery.

About 14 members of a fugitive task force that included the Alachua Count Sheriff's Office and Gainesville police arrested Reed at a convenience store at 3423 Hawthorne Road after investigators got information that he was in the area.

Carroll said Reed knew people in Gainesville and likely felt safe in the area.

The home invasion robbery occurred Aug. 1 in Lady Lake. A press release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office stated that an elderly couple was awakened by two men in their bedroom who were demanding money. When the couple told the men they had no money, one of the intruders shot the man.
