BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles have signed pitchers Darren O’Day and Dana Eveland to one-year contracts.
Claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers this offseason, O’Day, a standout at the University of Florida, agreed to a $1.35 million deal. The right-handed reliever was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA in 2011 and is 8-5 with a 2.89 ERA in 186 career games. He made $1,251,000 last season.
O’Day and Eveland would have been eligible for arbitration, but both agreed to deals before filing. Each can earn an extra $50,000 for making the All-Star team.
