Williston man dies in single-vehicle crash

A Williston man was killed Friday when he lost control of his pickup, overturned and hit a fence and a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dead is Blake Matthew Smith, 30, FHP reported in a press release.

The accident happened County Road 241 north of Northeast 85th Street as Smith was driving a 2007 Ford F150 near midnight, the release stated.

Smith was northbound when he drove off the road onto the east shoulder, over-corrected rotated counterclockwise and drove onto the west shoulder. The pickup overturned and collided with a fence and tree, FHP reported.

A paramedic determined he was dead at the scene, the release states.
