Deputies arrested an unemployed Hawthorne man after watching a security video they said showed him dropping off bleachers from the city park at a recycling center.
Michael J. Beall, 22, was arrested Monday by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office on charges of grand theft and dealing in stolen property. Deputy Robert Stafford said Beall confessed to the crimes after being arrested.
City officials told the Sheriff's Office that someone took six sections of aluminum stadium bleachers from Hawthorne City Park on Saturday. In an arrest report, Stafford said a video camera at a local recycling center captured images of Beall selling the bleachers - weighing a combined 151 pounds - for $83.05.
Stafford picked up the bleachers Monday and returned them to the city. He also took Beall to the Alachua County jail.
