OCALA - The Ocala Police Department invites community members to attend a graduation ceremony for the most recent group of Phoenix Rising participants. The event includes a house blessing and key ceremony for the Daniels family.

The program is a partnership between OPD, Habitat for Humanity of Marion County and local businesses and other community interests.

Seventeen young adults are graduating from the current 15-week program and each of them earned certifications that will help with future job placement, noted a press release from OPD. Eleven participants received jobs and one is attending college. The participants help build Habitat homes as part of the program requirements, which also mandate that they remain drug free.

The house blessing and key ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at 815 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. The graduation ceremony will follow, at Zion United Methodist Church, 510 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
