Hungry Howie's makes room for BubbaQue's
The Hungry Howie's Pizza at 4860 NW 39th Ave. in Magnolia Parke has relinquished its buffet dining room to make way for a BubbaQue's. The two eateries will share a kitchen.
Hungry Howie's will continue to offer carry out and delivery, said Steve Frahm, the franchisee for both.
Remodeling is under way in the dining room. Frahm said BubbaQue's would open Jan. 23 if everything goes as planned.
“The main reason was the volume on the buffet had dropped, and we had to do something different to keep the Hungry Howie's here,” he said.
The location will be the eighth for BubbaQue's, which has its headquarters in Chiefland.
Frahm also owns the Hungry Howie's and BubbaQue's franchises in Jonesville.
Kazbor's now Magnolia Parke Tavern
Across the parking lot from Hungry Howie's in Magnolia Parke, the Kazbor's Grille franchise closed Dec. 24 and reopened Tuesday as Magnolia Parke Tavern under the same ownership.
The owners could not be reached Thursday about why they had made the switch.
Manager Jim Caporali said the restaurant has expanded the menu to include higher-quality foods such as lobster tail and filet mignon, Asian food, additional salads and a new drink menu in addition to the usual burgers, sandwiches, salads and wings.
The Cici's Pizza buffet in Butler Plaza has been closed for business and its phone is disconnected.
No calls were returned from CiCi's corporate office or district manager, or from Regency Windmeadows which owns that portion of Butler Plaza.
