A Gainesville woman was arrested Thursday on an aggravated battery charge stemming from the stabbing of her husband on New Year's Eve, Gainesville Police reported.

Charged was Alexis Webster, 25, of 3716 SW 30th Terrace, Apt. 40C. She is accused of stabbing Thomas Young Jr., 26.

Police reports state that Young was stabbed once in the arm and once on the left side of his torso. The incident happened on New Year's Eve during an argument, police said.

According to the report, the two were supposed to go out that night but Young did not come home until just before midnight, prompting an argument. The report states Webster told police that Thomas hit her in the head, so she grabbed a steak knife she keeps under her pillow and inadvertently stabbed him when he tried to grab her wrist.

Young underwent surgery for treatment of his wounds, reports state.
