PALATKA — Authorities say a child has died after being run over by a truck driven by a relative at a north Florida adventure park.

Lt. Bill Leeper of the Florida Highway Patrol says the truck backed over the child Saturday afternoon at a mud-bogging gathering at the Putnam County park.

The Hog Waller Mud Bog and ATV Park posted a message on its website expressing condolences to the child's family. The park says the accident happened in one of its camping areas.

Hancel Woods of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the child died at a hospital. The child's name was not released.

The two-day New Year's mud-bogging event was expected to continue Sunday.
