UF women fall to undefeated Rutgers

DAYTONA BEACH — Erica Wheeler scored 15 points to help No. 11 Rutgers remain unbeaten with a 63-49 win over Florida on Friday night.

April Sykes and Monique Oliver added 12 points each, and Betnijah Laney had 10 for the Scarlet Knights, who are off to their first 8-0 start since 2005.

Florida (6-2) had won six straight after an opening 3-point loss to Michigan.

Jordan Jones scored 20 points to lead turnover-plagued Florida (6-2), which hit only 2 of its first 11 shots to open the second half and committed 22 miscues that Rutgers turned into 22 points. Deana Allen added 11 points for the Gators, who snapped a six-game winning streak.
