Annie Pais epitomizes this award especially in its inaugural season. Annie has raised a family and been a successful local artist in Gainesville since the 1970s. Ten years ago, Annie created Florida's Eden (, a non-profit, with a goal of advocating for the little guy, in this case all the creative talents of Florida's people and communities in thirty North Florida counties.

Annie has tirelessly traveled all over North Florida working to unify small towns, help them find what makes them special, and create business models that will help them attract tourism to their natural and cultural identities. She has done this by organizing:

* "Paint Outs" that raise money and highlight other local artists

* Created One Region One Book, which got high school students to all read about Florida's fresh water issues

* Created the grassroots project,

* Partnered with many in the 12 sectors of the creative economy: biotechnology, innovation technology, architecture and design, visual arts, health and wellness, performing arts, sports and recreation, music, food and agriculture, communications and digital media, cultural heritage and literary arts

* Held meetings with state officials and Florida VIPs

* Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to create several Scenic Guides that beautifully highlight Florida's special people and places

* And much more ...

Her integrity and honesty and tireless efforts makes her a perfect candidate for this award. The city of Gainesville and 30 counties of North Florida owe her their thanks. By honoring Annie with this award, Annie's ten years of service would have not gone by unnoticed. Thank you.
