Alachua County manager Randall Reid is among eight finalists named Tuesday who will now compete for the chance to become Sarasota County's next administrator.
The eight, six of whom are from Florida, were selected Tuesday by the executive search firm the Mercer Group. The Sarasota County Commission will further narrow the list to three to five candidates next week and make a final selection in just two weeks.
The search drew 48 applicants to replace Jim Ley, who resigned in May following a scandal in the county's purchasing practices.
