AUSTIN, Texas — Junior Mia Piccio led the charge during round two of the 2011 Betsy Rawls Invitational with a two-under (70) second round. Piccio claimed first place individually while helping the team enter the final round in second place after posting a two-day total of 589 (+13).
Piccio, who has a 54-hole total of 141 (-3), had an up-and-down round, but finished strong finishing three-under on her final seven holes. Piccio also added her first eagle of the year.
Swimming and diving: Three days after the Gators took to the pool to take on SEC opponent Georgia, they dive back into the water to face in-state rival Florida State for a mid-week showdown today at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Natatorium. The matchup will mark the final home meet of the fall semester, and the second time that the Gators and Seminoles have competed against one another on the year, as they each partook in the All-Florida Invitational this October.
In other news, two swimmers earned SEC Athlete of the Week honors for their performances this past weekend against Georgia. The credits went to Teresa Crippen for SEC Female Swimmer of the Week and Matt Elliott for SEC Male Freshman of the Week.
