Florida sophomore receiver Andre Debose was aware he could make an impact early Saturday night against Alabama.
Debose said Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis told him that he was going to go to him on the game's first play.
"Coach Weis kind of just told me that he was going to go at me the first play and try to make something happen," Debose said.

Debose caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback John Brantley giving the Gators a quick 7-0 lead. Unfortunately for Florida, Debose was one of the few bright spots in a 38-10 loss to Alabama at Florida Field.
"This loss kind of opened our eyes up and kept us grounded and humbled us really," Debose said. "Now we know we have to work hard."
The 65-yard TD catch was the first receiving touchdown of Debose's career. Debose finished with a team-high 90 yards receiving on two catches.
Debose nearly had another TD catch, but had a five-yard touchdown grab overturned when TV replays showed he didn't have full possession of the ball.
"I really felt like that was a big moment," Debose said. "I really felt I was in and I had it but once I saw the replay I realized I didn't."
Debose had two touchdowns on kickoff returns last year. The third-year sophomore flashed similar speed down the sideline on his 65-yard TD catch, beating All-SEC cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick down the sideline to catch a perfectly-timed throw from Brantley.
"Andre has done a good job," Florida coach Will Muschamp said. "He's done a good job in practice. He's practiced hard. He's presented those opportunities to be in the position he is right now. I'm very pleased with his progress.
There were rumblings that Debose had issues grasping the playbook last season as a redshirt freshman. But Debose said that was not the case.
"I always understood the offense," Debose said. "I just feel like I got my opportunity to make a play."
